Hi all. The Oscars are upon us, the end to another interesting Award Season with a lot of glitz and glam being brought directly to our living rooms via our TV set. I’m kinda excited already and my list of movies that I need to watch soon is getting longer and longer as every year around this time

Last Saturday I went out with my French friends here in Dublin. When we were talking about music they mentioned this very popular French song about Connemara, called “Les Lacs du Connemara” (The Lakes of Connemara) which is often the last song played in the nightclubs and discos around France. Apparently French people go crazy when they hear that song: They are lying in each other’s arms and do some kind of “sirtaki-“dance. Absolutely hilarious if you ask me. Well, Ireland spreads its love all over the world 
Today is January 6th, also known as Epiphany among Christians all over the world. Well, not so much in Ireland: Over here January 6th is celebrated as Little Christmas, or… (Attention ladies!)… Women’s Christmas!!!!!
It’s nearly Christmas!!! I’ve opened more than half of the doors of my advent calendar already and I’m really busy finding nice Christmas presents for my friends and family. Decorating houses and Christmas trees (as cheesy & glittery as possible!), listening to Christmas songs (and obviously singing along), baking Christmas cookies, looking for the perfect Christmas Party outfit and doing our Christmas shopping with thousands of other desperate people – these are all well-known (pre) Christmas “traditions” in many countries. But living here in Ireland now, I was wondering if there are Christmas traditions that are typically Irish; customs that I’ve never heard of before. And… Surprise! Of course there are. I did some research and look what I came across:
